Pre-Party Thursday, February 27 and Main Festival Saturday, March 1
BATON ROUGE, La. - LouisEagle -- The12th Annual Baton Rouge Mardi Gras Festival starts with a Pre-party on Thursday, February 27 from 7:00pm to midnight at Henry Turner Jr.'s Listening Room. The main festival will be held on Saturday, March 1 from 10:00am to 7:00pm at North Boulevard Town Square.
The Pre-party is a sneak peek of some of the talent scheduled to play on the Town Stage. Admission is $30.00 and includes a buffet and no-host bar. The venue is located at 2733 North Street in Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Performers expected to appear are Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor and the Listening Room All-Stars.
The main event features continuous live music, a vendor's village and food court. It's family friendly and free to the public. Lawn seating, so bring your chairs. The venue is located at 222 North Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70801. Screenings of "We're Going Down to the Mardi Gras:The Making of Henry Turner Jr.'s Mardi Gras Festival," will be shown at the River Center Library at 2:00, 3:30 and 5:00pm, located right next to the festival grounds. The 44 minute documentary is narrated by Turner and was produced by Michele Barnes for her Rebirth Shield Film Productions. This year's festival lineup, on the Town Lawn Stage, features blues, soul, R&B, reggae, gospel, jazz, pop/rock, spoken word, comedy and Mardi Gras Indians. Expected to appear to date are Henry Turner, Jr. & Flavor, the Listening Room All-Stars including Ervin "Maestro" Foster, Kevin White, Kelton 'Nspire Harper, King Solomon and comedian Eddie "Cool" Deemer. Returning favorites include the Phoenix Rouge Dance Troupe, Big Queen Tanya Sylvas, Wyanda Paul and John "The Boss Man" Hall.. More acts will be announced closer to the date.
