In an effort to elicit name further name recognition, the district, along with the NRCS, have taken part in many recent outreach events. Those were very successful and have helped in getting new applicants and providing information on services.

CLINTON, La. - LouisEagle -- Recent outreach opportunities were at the following: Feliciana Forestry Association's Annual Meeting, Southern University Ag Center, the Florida Parishes Forestry Forum, the Clinton Community Market, their Locally Led Work Group Meeting, and the recent LACD convention. At all of these events, both Feliciana SWCD and NRCS representatives provided information regarding current programs, as well as promotional material explaining the technical and cost share services provided to producers. The cooperative agreement between the agencies works quite well in providing great service to the community.

Programs administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) in its Clinton, Louisiana field office located alongside the Farm Service Agency (FSA). Feliciana Soil and Water Conservation District (Feliciana SWCD)'s territory includes both East Feliciana Parish and West Feliciana Parish. It is currently seeking new cooperators in those parishes that may greatly benefit from the resources offered by the NRCS. Those services include many conservation technical assistance programs and activities such as conservation of private grazing land, conversation reserve program (administered by the USDA's FSA program), conservation technical assistance, grazing lands conservation initiative, and state technical committee. Programs may incorporate wetlands and erosion prevention services, pond boring, cattle, conservation of wetlands, and other aspects of farming and land conservation efforts. Feliciana SWCD works closely under the auspices of the Louisiana Department of Agriculture's Office of Soil and Water Conservation. It is one of 44 Soil and Water Conservation Districts in the State of Louisiana. SWCDs are local units of state government with functions very unique to any other forms of government, due mainly to the capability of entering private property at a landowner's request to plan and/or construct various conservation systems. It is funded by the Louisiana Legislature and through self-generated income. It is also assisted by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service. The office is located at 9752 Plank Road, Clinton, Louisiana 70722. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, appointments can be made by telephone at 225-683-8955, extension 3 or via email (Arlene.Culpepper@la.nacdnet.net).
