The annual poster contests provide kindergarten through twelfth grade students with an opportunity to share their thoughts about soil, water and related natural resource issues. This year's theme, "Healthy Forests, Healthy Communities", focuses on the importance of our forests. Trees are vital. As the biggest plants on the planet, they absorb carbon from the atmosphere, stabilize the soil, filter water, provide healthy habitat for wildlife and offer many additional benefits – for nature, people and biodiversity. Not only is it necessary to protect existing trees and plant new ones, but it's also important to advocate and educate about trees and forest conservation within your community.

The Feliciana Soil and Water Conservation District wants to help people in our community to learn how important it is to help conserve all our natural resources and how easy it can be.  For information about the conservation poster contest and other conservation issues please contact Arlene Culpepper at the Feliciana Soil and Water Conservation District office located at 9752 Plank Road, Clinton, Louisiana 70722. You may also call 225-683-8538 ext. 3.  Our office hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.   You may also reach us at any time via email at felicianaswcd@gmail.com.
