Pre-party at Henry Turner Jr.'s Listening Room on September 11 Main festival at EBRPL-Main Library on September 13 and 14

BATON ROUGE, La. - LouisEagle -- The 9th Annual A Taste of the Deep South announces talent line-up and sponsors for three day event. The festival opens with a Pre-Party on at Henry Turner Jr.'s Listening Room on Thursday, September 11th. Performers include Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, the Listening Room All-Stars and special guest artists who will perform at the festival. The party is scheduled from 7:00pm to midnight. The venue is located at 2733 North Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. Admission is $30.00 and includes a Southern buffet. Cash bar.

A Taste of the Deep South takes place at the EBRPL-Main Library on Goodwood Boulevard on September 13 and 14 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. The event features various genres of music, a Vendor Village and a food court with southern festival food and international cuisine. Returning local favorites are Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor, the Listening Room All-Stars, SmokeHouse Porter and the Gut Bucket Blues Band and the Phoenix Rouge Dance Troupe. Coming in from Florida are the rock band 100 Meter Scream, Latin torch singer Jessi Campo and alt/rock performers Loui Daniels and Ryan Bauta. The Howard County Country Band is from Texas and Missisippi acts include Hip/Hop artist Geekster the Super Nerd and Old School R&B singer Robert "The Juice" Lenoir. Also joining the festival is folk/rocker James Margolis from Philadelphia. Regional acts include the rock band D'RTY COT'N and jazz saxophonist Jeremy Benoit. New for this year are a Henry Turner Jr. Look-A-Like Contest on Saturday and a Dance Contest and Watermelon Eating Contest on Sunday. The festival also features Joyful Jump Bounce House and on Saturday a Children's Village.

The event is family friendly and free to the public. Special VIP tickets are available on the website. VIP Experience cost is $25.00 and includes two meal and two soft drink tickets. Turner VIP tickets are $100.00 for two people with two T-shirts, four meal and drink tickets, covered seating in the VIP access tent and a "Now" CD by Henry Turner Jr. & Flavor. Food is from the Taste of the Deep South kitchen. The venue is located at 7711 Goodwood Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70806.
